It has been recently reported the R&B singer has been found guilty of the charges brought against him. Many of his fans took to social media crying for freedom of the singer. This has also sparked many debates about if people should listen to his music. Separate the man from the music, is the quote that is flooding around Facebook right now.

Though as this is going on, can we really separate the man from the music? I’m going to be honest, its been a very long minuet since I listened to a R Kelly album, so I decided to obliged last night.. And honestly it has me shook. We all know that artist receive inspiration from things that are going on in their life. So, as you listen to these wonderful lyrics… They sound great talking to an older woman, but when you learn that R Kelly spent the entirety of his peak in love with female children… It kind of turns into an dark tale.

Take for instance the famous song Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number; By AAliyah featuring R Kelly

Age ain’t nothin’ but a number
Throwin’ down ain’t nothin’ but a thing
This lovin’ I have for you, it’ll never change
Age ain’t nothin’ but a number
Throwin’ down ain’t nothin’ but a thing
This lovin’ I have for you, it’ll never change

A lot of the blame has been thrown around, from his parents, to the girls parents, to the girls themselves. Though have we actually took into consideration that he knew what he was doing. He called himself the pied piper, and if you know the story you know how it correlates to this. Though as the facts come out, it seems that he had a cult like following. The ladies that has been effected by his behavior were younger at the time it happened. We have all been that age, star struck and didn’t know what to do. It’s just sad that it took this long.

Though a lot of unfortunate events happened to R Kelly before he became this way. During the famous interview with Gayle King, the singer and some of his family members explained that he was raped as a child. So, as he grew up my guess is that he reciprocated the behavior that he learned. Though, that is no excuse for his behavior but it does give some insight that has happened. Many also claimed that he used that same interview as a cry out for some help. Though, you really can’t judge that as genuine because after that interview some new recent allegations came up after that. I understand that everyone has their demons, but you really have take into account of how many times will this happen before he stops. It’s cause it looks like he can’t.

As things develop, well keep you posted but lets finally hope that he gets the help that he needs.
